Love Action's Friday Fix 4.March.2011

Love Action's Friday Fix

4.March.2011
A Dhia dhílis! It's March! The month where the Patron Saint of Ireland rears his almighty green headdress and turns the world Oirish for a day. In honor of dear Paddy, we've got an hour of Cheoil na hÉireann - but don't put on your Riverdance shoes just yet.

Ireland's independent music scene is a far cry from the tweed cap wearing, woodbine smoking bodhrán players seen in horror films such as Leap Year. With Ireland being such a small country, and me being an Irish iníon altrama, I'm fairly-versed and excited to share with you the diverse, exciting and ever-changing animal that is the Irish indie music scene. I've even included the exclusive, and thus-far unheard single that my own band, Talulah Does The Hula, will be releasing next month.

A good few of these bands are soon to be at Canadian Music Week and SXSW - and most are often touring the UK, so definitely keep your eyes peeled for them in your area. I've also included links to each band if you're looking for more info on them. Many of the songs featured on today's show are available as free downloads.

On this month's show:

Turn The Magic On - Messiah J & The Expert
They Say - Talulah Does The Hula
Lost Chord - Up North
Oh-Oh - Ham Sandwich
Something Good Can Work (The Twelves Remix) - Two Door Cinema Club
Transworld - Le Galaxie
5am, November 6th - Sleep Thieves
Wish Me Well - No Monster Club
Circle - Squarehead
Mysteries of Life - Groom
Love Sounds - Miracle Bell
March of the Mighty Atomics - The Mighty Atomics
Stars Are Spaceships - Funeral Suits
Contact Sports - Patrick Kelleher & His Cold Dead Hands
Horse Outside - The Rubberbandits
Nothing Lasts Forever - Jape

The beautiful background sounds were by James Vincent McMorrow.
Enjoy! And please feel free to send on requests for next month's show to: jessie@radionowhere.org!
